Life Support Selection Incorrectly Changes to “Yes” Post-Upgrade

Issue ID: 50703

Versions Affected

NextGen® KBM v.8.3 to v.8.3.7

The Issue

NextGen Healthcare has identified an issue on the Advance Directives template where selecting the Do not place on life support check box incorrectly selects the Yes radio button for Place on life support:, post-upgrade.

Example

In this example, the user launches NextGen KBM v.8.1, creates a new patient or opens an existing patient, and creates a new encounter. The user navigates to the Intake template and selects a specialty and visit type. The user navigates to the Social History Adult template and scrolls down to the Advance directives in place section. The user selects the Do not place on life support check box and clicks Save & Close.

The user upgrades to NextGen KBM v.8.3 to v.8.3.6 and opens the previously selected patient. The user navigates to the Social History Adult template, scrolls down to the Advance Directives in Place: section and clicks on Details. The Advance Directives template launches and the user sees that the Yes radio button is incorrectly selected for Place on life support:.

Actions Required

Until this issue is fixed, users should review all scanned advance directives. Users can also review the template from a previous encounter if available or verify life support selections with the patient.

Users who are upgrading to NextGen KBM v.8.3.8 can utilize the Ngkgm Psafety Report to identify possible affected patients. To access the practice template, users should navigate to the File menu and select System \ Practice Template. The Select Template pop-up will launch and the user should select the Ngkbm Psafety Report from under the Practice tab. The template launches, the user clicks inside the Report Filter: field and selects Advance Directives Life Support. The user enters a start and end date and clicks Populate. A list of patients will display and their life support selections should be verified.
