HPI Information from Other Practices Incorrectly Displays on Home Page – OPH Template
Issue ID: 52497
Versions Affected
NextGen® KBM v.8.3 to v.8.3.8
The Issue
NextGen Healthcare has identified an issue on the Home Page – OPH template where historic HPI information is displayed from other enterprise practices even though the enterprise chart functionality is disabled.
Example
In this example, the user launches NextGen® Ambulatory EHR and selects one of several practices.
The user opens an existing patient from another practice and creates a new encounter.
The user navigates to the Intake - OPH template and selects Ophthalmology as the specialty and Office Visit as the visit type.
The user scrolls down to the Reason for Visit panel and selects a reason from the list.
On the HPI Generic – OPH template, the user selects the reason from the Chief complaint details grid, documents information below the Technician Conversation section, and clicks Add to Grid.
The user reselects the reason for visit from the grid, clicks Update, and Close and logs out of the system.
The user logs back into the system under a different practice, opens the same patient, and creates a new encounter.
The user navigates to the Home Page – OPH template and scrolls down to the Historic HPI panel.
The user sees the documented HPI information from the previous practice is displayed on the grid.

Actions Required
Until this issue is fixed, users should view the historic reasons for visit for the current practice on the chart notes from the previous encounters on the History bar.
Users may also modify the Ngkbm_Historic_HopiOphstored stored procedure by adding the practice ID and enterprise ID.
In addition, code to support enterprise charting should be added to the stored procedure.
The modified stored procedure should appear as follows:
- Do not modify NextGen Healthcare templates; instead copy the original template and rename it.
- The Historic HPI grid on the Home Page – Oph (oph_home_page) template will need to be rebuilt with the new version of
ngkbm_Historic_HopiOph stored procedure.
- Delete the Historic HPI grid from the Home Page – OPH template.
- Copy the above stored procedure into SQL Server Management studio and execute the stored procedure.
- Add the ngkbm_Historic_HopiOph stored procedure grid back to the copy of Home Page – Oph template in the HPI panel.
First select the type of grid as stored procedure.
Then select the ngkbm_Historic_HopOph stored procedure.
The Stored Procedure pop-up will be displayed and select the values as shown below to populate the parameters.

- Select the Enc_date, ChiefComplaint, Note, and Specialty fields and add them to the Data Sheet fields.
Set the column widths as shown in the image below.

- Select the Hide Grid Lines check box.
Then select the Font and Color tab and select the Alternate Color drop-down and enter the values for Hue, Sat., Lum, Red, Green, and Blue as shown below.

- From the File menu select Save.
Select Yes when prompted to update template links.
- Follow steps 1–9 above for the following templates: Historic_HPI, Oph_Historic_HPI, retsummary, and retsummary 2.
