Preferred Language Does Not Display on the Add Alerts Template

Issue ID: 51539

Versions Affected

NextGen® KBM v.8.3 to v.8.3.8

The Issue

NextGen Healthcare has identified an issue on the Add Alerts templates where the preferred language does not display.

Example

In this example, in NextGen® Practice Management (NextGen PM), the user opens an existing patient and navigates to the Modify Patient Information dialog box. The user selects a language from the Pref Language field and clicks OK.

The user launches NextGen® Ambulatory EHR and creates a new encounter. The user clicks the Add Alerts button, launches the Add Alert template, documents information, and clicks Save & Close. The user clicks the Add Alerts button again and selects the Interpreter required check box. The user sees the language previously selected in NextGen PM is not displayed in the Language field. If a language is not selected, the language will clear from the patient demographic template. The language will repopulate the next time that the demographic template is opened because the code is stored but until then, the meaningful use calculations will incorrectly show that a preferred language has not been documented.

Actions Required

The user should select the preferred language to populate the field when this alert is selected. If you have accidentally selected this check box, you will still need to choose the preferred language before unchecking the box.

Users may also utilize template editor to edit the alerts_mrp template. Below are the steps to copy the template:
  1. Using template editor, follow the detailed instructions in the Maintaining a Default Database document found here.
  2. Do not modify NextGen Healthcare templates; instead copy the original template and rename it using the Shared Fields option and select Yes when prompted to Update Template Links.
Below are the steps to edit the alerts_mrp custom template:
  1. Open the custom alerts_mrp template.
  2. Go to View > Fields List.
  3. Search for the {counseling_details_.chk_interpreter} field from the Fields List.
  4. Right-click on the field to open its triggers.
  5. Disable all the triggers with Assign Field Value as the Action and {person.language = “” } as the Parameter (shown in the screen below).
